The Council Representative is a full-time, paid employee of Oregon AFSCME (Council 75). Their role is to serve as a subject matter expert, providing advice and support to the local's elected volunteer member leaders as well as direct member representation in bargaining and other complex and advanced matters. A Council Representative may support mutliple locals and contracts at any given time. As part of an expansive state-wide team of highly qualified labor advocacy professionals, they coordinate with industry peers to connect the Local's members and volunteer member-leaders with resources to stregnthening the local's position as part of a unified state-wide and international labor movement. While they attend and contribute to general membership and executive board meetings, they do not hold voting rights in the Local.
