¡Feliz mes de la Herencia Hispana! El 15 de septiembre marca el comienzo de una celebración a nivel nacional de nuestra historia latina/hispana y nuestra cultura. El Mes de la Herencia Hispana se celebra hasta el 15 de octubre y nos gustaría aprovechar esta oportunidad para celebrar a nuestros miembros Latinos y sus increíbles contribuciones a las comunidades que hemos construido en los EE. UU. A lo largo del mes nos encantaría resaltar y compartir sus historias con todos nuestros miembros en el estado. Sabemos que todos ustedes hacen un trabajo increíble y esencial, ya sea participando a través de su sindicato, como voluntarios en la comunidad o en sus trabajos del día a día. ¡Tómese unos minutos para completar este breve formulario para compartir su historia o nominar a uno de sus compañeros de trabajo!

¡Otra gran manera de celebrar es a través de la comida, música y el arte! La ciudad de Salem está celebrando su primer evento anual ¡Viva Salem! Todos Unidos | Festival de la Herencia Hispana. Los invitamos a usted y a sus familias a asistir. Aunque no formamos parte de la planificación de este evento, es una gran oportunidad para reunirnos y conectarnos. Dia De Los Muertos
¡Ya viene el Día de Los Muertos! El año pasado pusimos un altar en la oficina de Portland para celebrar a nuestros seres queridos que ya fallecieron, y también incluimos a líderes laborales que nos dejaron su legado para seguir luchando por nuestras comunidades. Nos encantaría continuar esta tradición y este año el Altar/Ofrenda estará en la oficina de AFSCME en Salem. El objetivo es hacer esta ofrenda juntos, todos podremos traer una foto o un objeto para poner en el altar, compartiremos historias y comeremos pan de muerto o tamales.
El altar estará se quedará durante la semana previa al Día de los Muertos y animaremos a nuestros miembros en el área de Salem a que vengan a verlo. Si desea ser parte de la planificación de este evento, responda a este correo electrónico; y también complete esta breve encuesta de Google para informarnos su día preferido para realizar este evento.

Happy Hispanic Heritage month! September 15th marks the beginning of a nationwide celebration of our Latin/Hispanic history and vibrant culture. Hispanic Heritage Month is celebrated through October 15th and we would like to take this opportunity to celebrate our Latinx members and their amazing contributions to the communities we’ve built in the U.S. Throughout the month we would love to highlight and share your stories with the entire membership. We know you all do incredible and essential work whether it is engaging through your union, volunteering in the community or at your every day jobs. Another great way to celebrate is through food, music and art! The city of Salem is holding their first annual ¡Viva Salem! Todos Unidos | Hispanic Heritage Festival. We invite you and your families to attend. Although we are not part of the planning of this event, it’s a great opportunity for us to come together and connect. Dia De Los Muertos
Dia De Los Muertos is around the corner! Last year we put together a beautiful altar at the Portland office to celebrate our beloved friends and family who have passed away, including labor leaders who’ve left us their legacy and inspiration to keep up the fight for our communities. We would love to continue this tradition and this year we will be setting-up an Altar/Ofrenda at the AFSCME office in Salem. The goal is for all of us to set-up this ofrenda together, you can bring a picture or item to put up on the altar, we will share stories and eat some pan de muerto and or tamales!
The altar will be up for the week leading up to Dia De Los Muertos, and we will encourage our members in the Salem area to come check-it out.
