VEBA For All

In our last round of bargaining, we gained the option to offer a new benefit to our members called a VEBA Health Reimbursement Account (HRA).  As with any new program or benefit, there's a lot of thought and research going into what that will look like.  While there's still a lot of work ahead of us, we're finally ready to begin the information and education phase of the program.  Over the next several weeks, Local 189 members will have an opportunity to participate in one of several information sessions, both in-person and remote.  It's important to note that no final decision has been made.  The authority to implement this program rests with our voting members.  (It's also important to note that City employees in AFSCME represented positions which have chosen not to join their union do not have a vote in this or any other union business.)  After our members have an opportunity to participate in those sessions, our local will contact an all-members vote to decide if and when the VEBA will be implemented.

Please read this important message about where the process is and the next steps.

Watch your e-mail or stay in contact with your Chapter's Chair for information about when and where the information sessions will be offered.
