Practice Picket: Strike-Ready City Workers Solidarity

Sat. Jan. 22, 2pm City Hall
By Saturday, City workers in the 1,200 member District Council of Trade Unions (DCTU) will have overwhelmingly authorized a strike.   Next step... a "practice picket".
City Council must step up and settle a fair contract with City workers.  Essential workers deserve essential wages.  City workers – the ones who treat our water, fix our streets, inspect  housing, and much more - have been without a contract for a year. The City’s last-and-final offer includes cost-of-living raises that would not even keep up with inflation.
Portland Mayor Ted Wheeler and City Commissioners recently issued a statement saying “Fair pay, safe working conditions, and the opportunity to fully participate and benefit from our economy, community, and our country: all working people deserve these basic things.”  So, what about City workers?
The practice picket will warn the City Council, once again, that City workers are prepared to strike for that "fair pay" and that Portland is a union town... we have their back !
Wear union gear and bring union banners !
